4 Things Every Mother Really Wants on Mother’s Day

Mother's Day is a time when we celebrate the special moms in our lives. We often search for the perfect gift when the most appreciated ones are free.

Mother’s Day.

A day we set aside to show appreciation for that special woman in our lives. It could be our biological mother, adoptive mother, foster mother, grandmother, or another special mom figure in our lives.

This week, people are scrambling to find the perfect gift, when in fact, the gifts that your mother really wants are actually free!

The mom in your life wants:

A Day of Silence

Being a mom means chauffeuring kids to school and afterschool events. It means listening to your kids bicker and argue until they go to bed. It means solving everyone’s problems and listening to children’s music on the radio. Mothers want some time to be themselves. In silence.

No screams.

No requests.

No cries.

Just pure, uninterrupted silence.

Acknowledgment Not Just on Mother’s Day

Mothers do a lot of work for free. Daily. They wipe noses, butts & tears. They put everyone before themselves unselfishly.

Even without acknowledgment, they would continue to care for their families. However, who doesn’t work harder when they are appreciated??

Moms are motivated by a simple thank you & I appreciate you every now and then. Don’t wait until Mother’s Day. Tell a mom in your life that you appreciate her today!!

A Solo Shopping Day

When I was in my 20s, I loved going shopping with my friends. The thrill of finding deals and trying on clothes together rivaled an Olympic sport. When I became a mother, I found it harder to balance time with my girlfriends and kids, so I started shopping with just my kids.

Now, if I can shop without the kids, I feel like I’ve just won the lottery.

There’s something about not making impulse buys because someone is having a meltdown that brings about a sense of peace. This sounds so simple, but the mom in your life will appreciate this more than you know.

Sleep

I don’t know about you, but I haven’t slept the same since becoming a mother. Every whimper, cough & snore is heard. I feel like I sleep with one eye open.

Even when the kids go to bed late, for some reason, they still wake up early. I miss the days of sleeping in until 10 or 11. Give the mom in your life time to take a nap & get a good night’s rest. I promise, she’ll be a different person in the morning.

What do you want this Mother’s Day??
