Healthy Halloween Treats For the Classroom or Co-Workers

Halloween doesn’t have to be unhealthy. It can be a celebration of costumes and characters along with seasonal snacks to share! You can skip the added sugar, chocolate, caramel, and even peanut butter. Instead, create fun and delicious treats to share with co-workers or your child’s classroom that are tasty yet are better for you.

Fruit Ghosts

A simple candy swap is by trading sweets for fruit. To make your “ghost” snack, look for bananas and strawberries. Slice a banana in half and dip half of it into melted white chocolate. You can use candy melts or white chocolate chips. Melt into the microwave for a minute or so, stirring every twenty seconds. Once your banana has been dipped in white chocolate, add two black eyes near the top. You can do that with mini chocolate chips. Let harden in the refrigerator before sharing with friends! Repeat the process with strawberries for “mini ghosts.”

Pumpkin Carrots

If you serve veggies with dip at a holiday party, why not create a seasonal display? Carrots can look like pumpkins when you shave the outside of the carrot, and then make slices at the top to create pumpkin shapes.

Candy Corn Fruit Cups

Perhaps one of my favorite ideas is to set up a fruit display. To make it Halloween party appropriate, choose small fruit pieces that are the color of different parts of candy corn. For example, mandarin oranges, bananas, lemons, cantaloupe, or pineapple can be the yellow and orange parts. For the white part of the candy corn display, try coconut or toppings like vanilla Greek yogurt or whipped cream.

Create a display on a large serving dish so that you can set up your candy corn made out of fruit! You could also layer the fruit in mason jars. It’s a fun way to serve kids in a classroom since it’s a “fruit cup” with a Halloween twist.

Pretzel and Cheese Broomsticks

Gather pretzel sticks and Mozzarella cheese for a fun witch broomstick snack! Use string cheese Mozzarella pieces (cut the string cheese into smaller pieces and make “slices” to feather out one end to create a “broom!”). Attach a pretzel stick into the broom end and you have a low fat witch broomstick!

Pumpkin Oranges

Peel a mandarin orange. Add a green grape in the middle to serve as the stem. Super simple!

Decorated Halloween Pudding Cups

Use natural pudding cups without added sugar to decorate. Use googly eyes and a permanent marker to add fun faces to the front of the pudding cups.

Frozen Banana Treats

This is one of my favorite ideas to do year-round. To make frozen bananas, remove the peel and slice the bananas about an inch or two inches thick. Put each slice onto a lollipop stick and dip in melted cocoa butter. Place on wax paper and add to the freezer until they are ready.

Grape Cups:Fill a clear plastic cup with green grapes. Add two jumbo marshmallows to create “eyes.” Use a permanent marker to add black dots inside the eyes on the plastic cup. This is a fun and easy way to snack on the go too.

Pumpkin Cookies: Swap your traditional cookie recipe with oil and flour for coconut oil and coconut flour.

Pumpkin Fudge: Fudge is ridiculously easy to make, and you can combine coconut oil, pumpkin pie spice, pumpkin puree, pure maple syrup, and nut
